Curl Curl Kitchen

The Curl Curl kitchen, perched over the waves in Sydney’s northern beaches uses recycled and chain of custody certified timber ensuring it has come from responsible forestry practices.

Recycled coastal blackbutt is the star of the kitchen being used in the doors, drawers and panels as well as cladding to the wall. The timber features as a highly decorative element in the space as well as being a wonderfully robust material for daily use, with an ability to be renovated over time. Recycled coastal blackbutt is the perfect material for this site, being used to the rigours of the salty sea air. The timber has a lovely backstory, previously being the roof trusses of a century old decommissioned factory building.

The kitchen is orientated towards the view, with floor to ceiling windows allowing breathtaking views while the happy homeowners are slicing the veggies at the island bench or enjoying a sunny morning bite at the breakfast bar. The carcass material of the kitchen is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified form ply, chosen because of its hardiness, strength and longevity to create a kitchen that will last well beyond the use by date of a typical kitchen.

This kitchen is a stunning example of the way wood can be used in the home as the perfect material choice. No other material offers the same warmth, character, longevity and natural beauty.

The Curl Curl kitchen, completed in 2012, was designed and specified by Druce Davey of Greener Kitchens.
